Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: HOI AN MOTORBIKE TOUR TO HUE (L, D) – 160 KM
Morning activities: Our Local guide will meet up at your hotel for a briefing before we our adventures. We will have one of the best motorbike tours on coastlines in central Vietnam, we will motorcycle easily up to Da Nang on the coastal road. Then we will go up on the famous Hai Van Pass – the pass offers us plenty of chances for photos. Lunch is served after the pass.
After lunch, We will have an enjoyable motorbike tour inside the countryside of  Vietnam, we will motorcycle all the way to Hue on the small countryside roads to see markets, rice fields, and plenty of colorful tombs. Overnight at the hotel in Hue.


DAY 2: HUE DISCOVERY DAY TRIP.

Morning, enjoy a peaceful riding along Perfume river to visit some Mausoleum of the Nguyen Dynasties inclusive of Khai Dinh King’s Tomb and Tu Duc king’s Tomb.
Afternoon, visit Hue Citadel and ending with a local market. Overnight in Hue City.


DAY 3: HUE MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO VINH MOC TUNNEL AND KHE SANH (B, L,D) – 170 KM.
Morning activities:  We get ready to have a motorbike tour on Ho Chi Minh Trail. After driving out of Hue city, we will head up to the DMZ to see some famous historical relics and learn more about the Vietnam war.
Especially, visiting the Vinh Moc tunnel complex extremely gives you a special feeling about life, war, and peace. After that we take a motorbike ride to the west to Khe Sanh, before getting to the hotel we will have a visit Khe Sanh Military Base to understand how violent the war was.

DAY 4: KHE SANH MOTORBIKE TOUR TO PHONG NHA – KE BANG NATIONAL PARK (B,L,D) – 220 KM.
Today is the highlight of the tour. We surely will have the best motorbike tour on Ho Chi Minh trail. We will ride on the western Ho Chi Minh trail, with 220 km in length the motorbike ride today offers you amazing views of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park especially there are just few other traffics on the trail. Arrive in Phong Nha at 4.30 Pm. If the weather permits, we will take a short boat trip to the some beautiful caves of Phong Nha.

DAY 5: PHONG NHA MOTORBIKE TOUR TO TAN KY (B,L,D) – 270 KM.
The morning motorbike ride is up to the north of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park., The motorcycle ride on Ho Chi Minh trail today keeps offering a great view of the limestone mountain and the beautiful villages of the hill tribes. After lunch, we will have a smooth motorbike ride straight to Tan Ky – Nghe An province.

DAY 6: TAN KY MOTORBIKE TOUR TO MAI CHAU (B,L,D) – 240 KM
After breakfast, keep enjoying the motorbike tour on Ho Chi Minh road until Ngoc Lac town where we stop for lunch. Then we will take a turn to the western mountainous area of Vietnam. From here we will have a great Vietnam motorbike tour on the mountain passes and enjoy the differently beautiful view from the days before. We will be in Mai Chau valley at 5 PM.
Overnight in Mai Chau – homestay with the Thai people.


DAY7: MAI CHAU MOTORBIKE TOUR TO HANOI (B,L) 170 KM.
Before having a motorbike ride to Hanoi, we take a short walk around the valley to visit some villages of the Thai people to learn more about Vietnamese culture and enjoy the peace of the green valley Mai Chau. We will start the tour back to Hanoi at 10 AM, after having an enjoyable motorbike ride on the mountains of north Vietnam, we will have lunch in Hoa Binh town. Then hit the road back to Hanoi, finish the 7-day motorbike tour on Ho Chi Minh trail safely before rush hours.

TRIP PROFILE

Road conditions: Most of the roads from Hoi An to  Hanoi are paved roads, village roads but not big challenges. The total driving distance for 07 days is around 1200 km, as a group size of 02 -05 riders, we will arrange 01 experienced guides setting an even pace and stop often to visit points of interest and sample some of the local food. For a group size from 06 -12 riders, we will arrange 02 guides or 01 mechanics.

DRIVING GRADE
Moderate Grade means these tours involve active, physically required activities up to 04– 06 hours per day.

Who suits: Recommended for moderate fitness travelers

Activity: 4-6 hours most days

Distances per day: driving 90 – 150 miles (or 150 – 240km) most days

The bikes you will be riding are Honda CRF 250cc, Honda XR150cc, Honda XR125cc, Honda Fortune 125cc or Honda Automatic 125cc

Basic spares and tools are carried by the guide.


Safety

Wearing a helmet is required on all our driving adventures and is nonnegotiable. If you do not wear a helmet you will not be allowed to drive. Your tour leader is trained in first aid and emergency rescue, but to a large degree, you must be responsible for your own safety while riding. It is therefore compulsory that you take out travel insurance that will cover you for a motorcycle tour.


Guides

You will be led by a local English-speaking guide and if the group is 9 people or more we will add another guide to the tour. All our guides are well informed in the history, culture, and religions of the area where you are biking and are skilled at passing that knowledge on to you. Your guide is also medically trained and an experienced local guide, able to handle most minor repairs en route.


THE DRIVING DAYS
A typical driving day starts at about 7.30 am after breakfast. Lunchtimes can vary depending on the distance. We aim to reach the next overnight stop by 4.30 or 5:00 pm. During the driving, we will have short breaks for rest, snack, and photographing.
Depending on the distance and the terrain the driving day can be part-drive part-ride or riding the whole way.

THE NITTY GRITTY


Health

We recommend that you visit a travel medical doctor and ask about the following vaccinations: typhoid, polio, tetanus, and hepatitis A. A certificate for Yellow Fever is required when arriving from an infected area within six days.


Weather

The weather in Vietnam is split into two distinct weather patterns Tropical and temperate zone.  The average temperature ranges from 22 to 27 degrees all year round but in the South, temperatures can stay almost the same.  The Southern part of Vietnam has 2 distinct seasons.  The cold season is from November to April and the hot season from May to October. Whilst in the North there are 4 seasons with distinct differences between them.  It can get cool in the winter but very warm in the summer.


Food

Most meals are included in your trip price apart from non-cycling days and some other exclusions. Please check the itinerary for full details. If you have a special dietary request, please advise us at the time of booking. Most diets can be catered for, but it is always important to advise us in advance.

Rice is the staple food in Vietnam. Soup with rice noodles is a national dish. Recipes for main meals make use of vegetables, meat and fish. Herbs and spices used in food preparation include basil, coriander, lemon grass, mint and black pepper. Other ingredients are garlic, onions, ginger and lime juice. There are a numerous types of noodles eaten at all times of the day and noodle and rice based snacks wrapped in rice paper or leaves are available.  Desserts include a variety of cakes and fresh fruit (bananas, durians, guavas, jackfruit, mangoes, oranges, persimmons and pineapples).  Popular drinks are tea, coffee and beer. The local spirit is rice wine.


Drink

Keeping you completely hydrated is a job we take very seriously. Coldwater, some energy-restoring local fruit, and soft drinks are included in the tour price while riding. Soft drinks and other beverages during meals are not included. Beer is freely available everywhere but is NOT included in the price.


Solo Travelers

Countryside Adventures does not require you to pay a surcharge for traveling alone. We will arrange for you to share accommodation with another traveler of the same gender and if we can not match you up we will provide a single room at no extra charge. If you prefer not to share a single supplement is payable to guarantee your own room. The cost of the single supplement is listed above.


 HOTELS AND HOMESTAY
In big towns, we use the finest 3-star with the center location. Please contact us if you prefer a higher hotel category. In remote areas, we use the best hotels or guest houses available.
Homestay in villages is basic in term of bedding condition and amenities. We will sleep on bed or floor with mattress, clean sheet, pillows and mosquito nets. Toilet is usually western style.

Deposit

When booking your tour, you’ll be required to pay a deposit to guarantee your place. For tours less than 7 days, the deposit amount is 100% of the tour price, per rider. For tours 7 days or longer, the deposit amount is 30% of the tour price, per rider.


Balance

Day tours and tours shorter than 7 days require full payment at the time of booking. For tours 7 days or longer, full payment must be paid 45 days before the departure date with fees for any bicycle rental(s), single supplement(s) and extra hotel nights. Our confirmation will include personal details you provided us (including your flight information), visa application advice, a packing suggestion list, and a detailed tour itinerary. It will also include a checklist to ensure you get everything ready for your holiday.


Cancellation Policy

On the rare occasions when we, Countryside Adventures, must cancel a trip, all payments received to date will be 100% refunded, which constitutes full settlement. There will be absolutely no deductions. If you, the client, must cancel your reservation, your cancellation fee will be determined according to when you cancel.
